Moldova Camping Guide: Where to Camp and Explore 4 Touring Areas

This Moldova camping guide helps you choose a practical base in the Republic of Moldova and follow a route through nature, village food and cultural sites. Start with the four linked area guides below. Each separates identified accommodation from overnight options that still need permission or a current quotation.

The areas are touring groupings for planning a trip, not a complete list of administrative districts. Moldova here means the country; our separate Romania camping guide covers travel across the western border.

Choose your Moldova camping area

Chișinău and Codrii

City parks, museums, forest excursions and a rural tent or glamping base around Milești. Best starting point for supplies and an introduction to Moldova.

Orheiul Vechi

Butuceni, Trebujeni, the Răut gorge and cave monasteries. Combine a reserved local stay with a walking route suited to your available daylight.

Northern Moldova

Fetești and the Prut cliffs, with separate extensions toward Soroca and the Dniester. Choose your base carefully to avoid excessive daily driving.

Southern Moldova

Lower Prut wetlands, Văleni, Slobozia Mare and a Gagauzia cultural extension. Arrange wetland access and village experiences before arrival.

Camping options and price evidence

Prices were researched on 17 October 2026. An online tariff is evidence of an advertised amount, not proof of availability or a complete booking total. The area guides link to the underlying tourism and operator pages.

Option Published price status Before booking
Pe Toloacă, Milești The detailed listing is labelled 2025; a current quotation is needed. Specify furnished tent or own-tent pitch.
Vila Roz, Trebujeni No current pitch tariff verified. Confirm camping availability and facilities.
La Fetești Undated starting amount; the charging unit needs clarification. Confirm the full amount for your party and dates.
Potcoava Verde, Slobozia Mare Own tent: 200 MDL/day; rented tent: 300 MDL/day advertised. Confirm occupancy, overnight terms and seasonal facilities.

For independent tent travellers, ask about drinking water, toilets, showers, cooking and check-in. Motorhome travellers should also obtain confirmation of vehicle acceptance, firm access, electricity and wastewater disposal. A place offering parking or glamping does not automatically offer a serviced motorhome pitch.

Free camping and protected places

This series does not identify a free campsite with fully verified permission, permit conditions and stay limits. It does not mean no such arrangement is possible; it means an unconfirmed map pin is not a dependable overnight plan. Ask the responsible host or administrator about the exact site and dates, and keep a reserved alternative.

Do not confuse a walking trail, picnic space or paid entrance with overnight permission. Obtain site-specific instructions for fires, vehicles and waste. For Lower Prut tent enquiries, use the reserve contact provided in the southern guide.

A flexible week-long route

For a first visit, consider one day in Chișinău, two nights around Orheiul Vechi and two or three nights in either the north or the south. Keep the remaining day for travel or weather changes. With more time, add the second regional branch instead of reducing every stop to a brief visit.

Plan each day’s walking distance from your confirmed accommodation. Ask hosts for their entrance map pin and the correct trailhead or boat launch. Reserve a village meal in advance and choose a nearby museum for an indoor alternative. Specific distances and travel times belong to the selected route, not to the whole country.

Season, equipment and current travel advice

Consider late spring or early autumn for walking, then check local forecasts and reserve access. Pack drinking water, closed shoes, rainwear, sun protection, insect repellent, a headlamp and an offline map. Add binoculars for nature outings. Carry enough supplies to finish your planned walk without relying on a rural café being open.

Transnistria: this series does not recommend a camping itinerary there. On the research date, the UK FCDO advised against all travel to Transnistria. Check your own government’s current advice and insurance conditions before travel, and review the actual road route rather than accepting an automatic navigation shortcut.

Make the booking useful

Send the host your dates, number of adults and children, tent count or vehicle dimensions, arrival time and facility needs. Request the full price, permitted length of stay and cancellation terms in one reply. Then book the nature activity and meal separately if required. This makes the difference between a promising destination listing and an itinerary you can follow.
