Northern Moldova camping can combine cliff scenery in the northwest with heritage visits farther east. Choose your overnight base around the landscape you most want to explore. A western campsite and a Dniester-side town are separate parts of a road trip, so allow a travel day instead of assuming that every attraction is nearby.
Natural places: Fetești, the Prut cliffs and river scenery
At Fetești in Edineț district, the campsite operator describes the Țiglău viewpoint as a short walk from camp and the landscape reserve as beginning at its edge. The quarry is a few hundred metres away, while La Castel reserve is several kilometres away. Use the host’s directions for approved paths.
For a wider northern itinerary, Moldova Travel highlights the Prut cliff routes, the rolling Suta de Movile landscape, Țaul Park and the Dniester views around Naslavcea. Treat these as separate excursions. Do not attempt an unfamiliar cave visit without a confirmed guided arrangement and appropriate access information.
Paid camping: La Fetești
The La Fetești operator page advertises tent accommodation with electricity, hot and cold water, showers and toilets. It displays a starting price of 250 MDL. This is an undated advertised starting amount checked on 17 October 2026, not a confirmed nightly total for a particular party. Ask whether it covers the pitch, a supplied tent, people or another unit, and request the full charge for your dates.
The operator permits fires only in designated devices and requests quiet after 22:00. Ask for the current instructions when checking in. Gazebo hire is a separate service; do not confuse a picnic-area booking with overnight accommodation.
Vehicle access: serviced caravan or motorhome pitches were not verified. Before driving a large vehicle to the site, confirm access width, turning space, surface condition, overnight acceptance and disposal facilities. Electricity for tent guests does not establish the availability of a suitable motorhome connection.
Free overnight options and restrictions
No named authorized free campsite with confirmed permit terms and stay limits was verified for this guide. A scenic lookout or a free daytime park is not a confirmed overnight location. Ask the relevant administrator about the exact site, dates and length of stay before making plans. If permission or facilities remain unclear, reserve an established campsite or a room.
For a multi-night trip, ask your host which outings can be reached on foot, which require a car and whether a guide can be arranged. Keep vehicles on accepted access roads and avoid driving onto open grass to seek a better view.
Food and cultural visits
For a Dniester-side extension, the tourism directory lists Vila Dora in Japca, Florești district, for traditional Moldovan food, and Hanul lui Hanganu in Lalova, known for its small sarmale. These are pre-arranged meal or guesthouse options on the eastern part of the itinerary; they are not restaurants within walking distance of the Fetești campsite. Reserve meals and confirm the route before setting out.
Build a heritage day around Soroca Fortress and the Candle of Gratitude monument. Another option is the Dumitru Matcovschi house-museum in Vadul-Rașcov. Confirm current opening arrangements and admission locally; this guide does not treat older tourism-page ticket prices as current quotations.
Distances, season and a practical route
Start with two nights at Fetești: use the arrival afternoon for settling in, then choose a local cliff walk the following morning. Add the Prut-side sights that fit your available daylight. Move east for Soroca only if you have another overnight stop or enough time for the transfer.
Exact driving distances and times depend on the attractions chosen and the approved campsite entrance. Obtain the host’s map pin and calculate each leg before departure; do not use a straight-line distance across the northern region. The short campsite-to-viewpoint distance described above does not make Soroca a nearby walk.
Consider late spring or early autumn for walking, checking forecasts and ground conditions. Pack water, walking shoes, sun protection, rainwear, a headlamp and an offline map. Give cliff edges a wide margin and leave exposed viewpoints if winds or visibility deteriorate.
Continue south through the Orheiul Vechi camping area, or plan a resupply stop using our Chișinău and Codrii guide.
Research checked 17 October 2026. Reserve your pitch and reconfirm the unit and total of any advertised starting price.
