Sanma Vanuatu camping planning starts with the actual island, host and overnight product. This guide introduces selected nature and cultural enquiries in Sanma Province, rather than every village or campsite. It distinguishes own-tent camping from supplied bungalows and identifies where prices or present services require direct confirmation.
Sanma Vanuatu camping: nature and access
Lonnoc Eco Beach Bungalows provides a coastal planning lead near Hog Harbour and Champagne Beach on Espiritu Santo. Arrange the actual beach or blue-hole visit with the host, including permissions and any entry fee. A picturesque swimming spot does not guarantee suitable conditions every day.
Camping and paid overnight stays
The official Lonnoc listing explicitly includes camping grounds in its shaded seafront gardens, alongside bungalows, small huts and a dormitory. These are different products. Confirm the actual pitch, tent hire, occupancy, toilets, water and full dated tariff directly; no complete current numeric own-tent price was established. Pui Lodge in the Luganville area also lists own-tent camping, with shared facilities associated with the lodge. Verify camper access to each facility and a separate pitch quote.
Free camping, permission and maximum stay
No free overnight location with fully verified current authorization and a numeric maximum stay was established for this selected itinerary. Obtain express permission from the responsible landowner, host and any relevant conservation manager. Agree the exact location, stay limit, fees and rules; a beach outing, village welcome or sightseeing ticket does not establish overnight permission.
Tents, cars and motorhomes
Confirm equipment, occupancy, toilets, safe drinking water, washing, cooking, power and approved waste disposal individually. No serviced caravan or motorhome pitch is inferred from road access or a bungalow car park. Ask separately about tent hire, bedding and camper access to lodge amenities. Island transfers need their own baggage and equipment agreement.
Culture and interpretation
Pui’s listing identifies a handicraft stall and an Island Night as cultural enquiries. Confirm the current schedule and host consent rather than assuming an older weekly description is guaranteed for your dates. This is separate from Lonnoc and requires its own transport plan.
Restaurants and meals
Lonnoc’s listed restaurant serves international and local Santo dishes and describes vegetarian, vegan and other dietary options. Confirm the current menu, hours and camper access. Pui’s restaurant serves in-house guests; clarify whether campers qualify and whether breakfast is included in their actual product. No fixed meal price is asserted.
Season, distance and equipment
Use the actual Lonnoc or Pui entrance for arrival rather than a general Santo pin. Hog Harbour and Luganville are separate bases. Ask about current road conditions, the approved vehicle and return transport before booking activities. Pack lighting, insect protection, weather layers and the cooking or sleeping equipment your selected camping arrangement requires.
Dated travel and booking checks
Research checked October 28, 2026. Prices marked VT are Vanuatu vatu and apply only to the stated product and conditions. Reconfirm taxes, extra occupants, meals, guides and transfers in a complete dated quote. Where no numeric maximum stay was verified, ask the manager instead of assuming unlimited occupancy.
Read the national guide’s official weather, geohazard and travel sources before departure. Local activity and transport can change at short notice. Respect landowners and cultural protocols, carry the supplies required by your booking and agree communications and emergency arrangements for remote journeys.
