Zeeland camping brings together beaches, dunes and water-management history. This guide uses Westkapelle as a base on Walcheren, with coastal walks and village heritage visits. Keep your overnight booking separate from beach access: a quiet shoreline is not an authorized camping pitch.
Zeeland camping: beaches and coastal routes
The official Westkapelle guide introduces the village behind its sea dyke and its heritage routes.
Choose a signed beach or dune entrance and check the day’s wind and sea conditions before a longer exposed walk. Use another day for nearby Walcheren villages. Stay out of restricted dune restoration areas and swim only where local conditions and guidance permit.
Authorized camping near the destination
Camping ’t Hoekje, at Joossesweg 2, lists standard tent-compatible pitches, caravan pitches and motorhome categories. Confirm your equipment footprint and the applicable vehicle length limit before booking.
Its published 2026 season runs from March 27 to November 1. Dogs are not allowed. Confirm availability, sanitary facilities, drinking water, arrival times and waste-disposal arrangements for your dates.
Nearby free camping
No free authorized tent location was verified for this Westkapelle itinerary. Beach-access parking, dyke viewpoints and dune paths should not be treated as permission to stay overnight.
Ask the manager or municipality about a specific proposed location, including any permit and maximum stay, or book an established campsite.
Zeeland camping prices: 2026
’t Hoekje lists a standard two-person low-season pitch at €29.50 before tourist tax. With the stated €1.68 tax per person, two adults total €32.86 per night.
This category includes the stated 6-amp electricity connection and car arrangement. Showers use €0.50 tokens.
In high season, the standard category is €41 including three guests before tourist tax. This is a different occupancy basis from the two-person low-season example. Motorhome categories have separate length limits and tariffs. Ask for the complete booking total.
Seafood, museums and village heritage
Dijkpaviljoen De Westkaap, on the Westkapelle sea dyke, offers seafood and other meals near the coast.
Restaurant Zeezot is another village option, featuring seasonal Zeeland ingredients and the catch of the day. Check current menus and kitchen hours.
The Polderhuis museum complements a beach or dyke walk. Verify opening hours, tickets and accessibility before visiting.
Season, distances and packing
Late spring through early autumn generally makes tent camping easiest, although the selected campsite lists a longer season.
From ’t Hoekje, estimate 2–5 km or 5–15 minutes by road to central Westkapelle and its museum. Middelburg is approximately 15–25 km away, with a journey of 25–40 minutes. Walking distance to the beach depends on your chosen entrance.
Bring windproof rain layers, a stable tent, warm sleeping equipment, drinking water and offline maps. Coastal wind and salt spray can change conditions quickly. Motorhomes need a reserved pitch that fits their dimensions and a confirmed servicing arrangement.
Sources and published tariffs checked October 13, 2026. Distances and times are broad planning estimates. Confirm current permission, opening dates, route conditions and the complete booking price before travel.
