This Zambia camping guide links all ten provinces with selected camp enquiries, nature and cultural visits, food planning and dated price checks. It distinguishes an independent pitch from a supplied tent, lodge or guided package. These are provincial introductions rather than an exhaustive directory of every town or campsite.
Zambia camping: all ten provinces
The Ministry of Local Government’s council directory supplies the ten-province framework. Each card opens a provincial article with its own sources and return link. Parks, wetlands and ecosystems can span boundaries; identify the actual camp and approved entrance before booking.

Travel advice checked October 28, 2026
Read the UK Zambia advisory, including its safety guidance and entry requirements, before departure. Confirm conditions and documents for your own passport, route and activities. Wildlife, water, road and medical arrangements need checks specific to the actual trip.
Current operating notices matter
Croc Valley’s direct page limits its camping product after January 1, 2026; do not book around old private riverfront-pitch descriptions. African Parks’ Bangweulu page currently carries a high-water closure notice for Shoebill Camp and Nsobe campsite. Ndole Bay reports relocation of its campsite because of lake levels. The relevant provincial guides link these notices and require direct reconfirmation.
Kasanka’s 2026 seasonal accommodation arrangements differ from older lodge descriptions. Confirm the currently offered product and dates with the actual operator. A tourism directory, seasonal statement or old brochure does not establish live availability.
Prices and complete quotations
The Eastern and Southern articles identify 2026 operator camping schedules for Track & Trail and Victoria Falls Waterfront, including their stated inclusions and date conditions. These are different products, not a national camping price. Reconfirm the current full total before paying.
Other articles explain where a current complete pitch tariff could not be established. Do not substitute a room, furnished tent or safari-package price for an independent pitch. Separate accommodation, extra people, vehicles, park entry, conservation charges, equipment, meals, guides, transfers and taxes where applicable.
Free camping and vehicle stays
No nationwide entitlement to wild camp or verified free stop in every province was established. Obtain express land-manager permission and any conservation authorization, including maximum stay and conduct rules. Beaches, riverbanks, roadsides and wildlife areas are not automatic overnight sites.
Confirm tents, caravans and motorhomes independently from ordinary car entry. Access roads, stand dimensions, power, toilets, water and waste services vary. Parking permission does not mean permission to sleep in the vehicle, and a pitch does not guarantee that a large vehicle can reach it.
Nature, culture and meals
The provincial guides introduce park and private-camp enquiries, lake stays, community camping and separate museum visits. Use DNPW, park managers and the actual operator to establish which activities are currently permitted. Follow wildlife rules and do not assume a waterfront is suitable for swimming.
The National Museums Board provides museum sources in the linked articles. Cultural visits and community interpretation need current opening checks and consent; no unscheduled performance or ceremony is promised.
Meals vary by product. Confirm the actual restaurant, menu, dietary needs and camper access where a venue offers food. Self-catering sites need an agreed supply and drinking-water plan. A lodge restaurant elsewhere in the province is not described as beside a remote pitch.
Seasons, distances and equipment
Use the actual booked stand, gate, trailhead or boat landing for distances and timing. Wetland water levels, rainfall, road conditions and seasonal wildlife activities can alter access and services. Obtain a current final-road assessment and plan daylight arrival.
Pack the equipment required by the actual stay, including suitable footwear, weather protection, lighting and planned water. Confirm a guide where needed and agree communications and emergency support for remote journeys. Equipment does not replace permission, current access information or responsible local guidance.
