This West Estonia camping guide focuses on the Kabli coast south of Pärnu, where a serviced camping base pairs with coastal paths and birdwatching. Stay at one base and leave time for nature, food and culture. Sources and published tariffs checked on 16 October 2026. Prices are euros (EUR); an undated tariff is identified as such and must be confirmed for your travel dates.
West Estonia camping guide: nature and walks
Walk the 1.8 km Kabli nature study trail and spend time observing birds without approaching nests. Choose the day’s route around wind and rain. The coast is attractive for an unhurried stay; the wider West Estonia region, including Haapsalu and Matsalu, requires additional bases rather than a rushed single-day circuit.
Established camping and checked prices
Metsaluige Camping and Caravan Park near Kabli lists a touring pitch at EUR 27 per night including two people, electricity, water, toilets, showers and an outdoor kitchen. A tent pitch for two is EUR 18 with toilets, showers and outdoor kitchen. An extra adult is EUR 8 and a child aged 3–17 EUR 5; very young children have a separate free category. Laundry is EUR 6 per wash and EUR 8 per dryer use. These undated live rates were checked on 16 October 2026; confirm the total, season and your unit type. Check-in is from 15:00 and checkout by 12:00.
Ask the operator to confirm the complete charge for your party and equipment. Check pitch access, arrival times, drinking water, showers and waste disposal before booking. A price page does not guarantee availability or year-round touring services.
Free authorized camping and alternatives
RMK Lemme Campsite explicitly offers free tent pitching. Each motorised vehicle entry costs EUR 5, paid in cash, so arriving by car is not cost-free. RMK lists capacity for 50 four-person tents and 30 parked cars. The service house has paid facilities, including showers and sauna; seasonal service must be checked. Firewood is not supplied. Check posted stay conditions and do not assume camping permission means a powered motorhome pitch is available.
Restaurant and local food
The Metsaluige café-restaurant is a named on-site meal option, with a seasonal à la carte selection described by the operator. Confirm kitchen hours and the current menu. Keep groceries for a simple camp meal if service is limited.
Culture beyond the campsite
The Kabli Nature Centre provides exhibitions and information on the area. RMK’s trail information also identifies the Markson captain and shipowner’s house museum in Kabli; verify opening before making a special visit. These stops connect coastal scenery with local interpretation.
Season, access and equipment
May–September suits a straightforward tent itinerary, with migration seasons useful for birdwatching. Metsaluige, Kabli and Lemme form a short coastal circuit: allow roughly 5–15 km and 10–20 minutes between stops depending on the exact destination. Pärnu is a separate outing, approximately 50–60 km and 45–60 minutes by road. These are planning estimates. Pack binoculars, insect protection and a windproof layer, and leave dunes and coastal vegetation undisturbed.
Pack waterproof layers, warm bedding, walking shoes, insect protection, drinking water and offline maps. Bring a headtorch for dark evenings and use designated waste facilities. Check RMK’s current rules before forest camping or using a fire site. Respect local closures, quiet hours and sensitive ground.
