This Tavush Armenia camping guide separates Dilijan’s forest visits from a managed stay around Yenokavan. Choose one base at a time and confirm the route before setting off. A woodland destination description should not be mistaken for permission to pitch anywhere inside a national park.
Nature and places to explore
Dilijan National Park and Lake Parz offer forest scenery and walking options. Choose a trail suited to recent rain and daylight, and ask the park or a local guide about designated overnight areas. Around Yenokavan, arrange any canyon or adventure outing with a named operator; an attractive photograph does not establish easy access for every group.
Camping, published prices and facilities
Kanach Tun in Yenokavan advertises camping and rental tents, including three- and six-person family models, together with cottages and a restaurant-café. No clear current camping tariff was established. Ask whether the booking is for a supplied tent or your own tent, and confirm bedding, bathrooms, water, season and maximum stay. Do not transfer a cottage’s private facilities to a camping booking or assume motorhome hookups.
Free camping and overnight permission
No named free pitch with documented stay limits is guaranteed here. In protected forest, obtain the allocated location and any permission from the responsible management. Avoid lighting fires unless expressly allowed, stay clear of roads and village access, and pack out food waste. A daytime picnic area may have different rules for sleeping overnight.
Restaurants and local food
Kanach Tun’s on-site restaurant-café provides a named meal option for a Yenokavan stay. Confirm its current cuisine, menu, booking and opening hours directly. Buy provisions for the walking day separately; the restaurant is not necessarily close to a trail elsewhere in Tavush.
Museums and cultural stops
Haghartsin and Goshavank add monastic heritage to a Dilijan-based day. Keep religious visits separate from a demanding walk if the group needs more time. Confirm access and respect services, clothing guidance and photography rules. A quiet monastery courtyard remains a cultural site rather than an assumed camping area.
Season, access and a practical itinerary
FCDO advises against the M16/H26 between Ijevan and Noyemberyan and against travel within 5 km of the eastern Azerbaijan border. Do not route the itinerary through those areas. A practical visit gives Dilijan a forest day and moves to Yenokavan only after route confirmation. Carry waterproof layers, suitable footwear, water and offline navigation; ask the booked host for actual driving and walking times.
