South Sinai camping combines very different settings: Red Sea shores around Ras Muhammad and Nabq, and the mountain heritage of Saint Catherine. This guide distinguishes a published equipped-camp offer from a personally confirmed stay. The governorate is not one uniform access or security zone, and its coast should not be confused with North Sinai.
Current travel warning and regional distinctions
Reviewed 25 October 2026: UK regional advice opposes non-essential travel to the northern part of South Sinai beyond the St Catherine–Nuweibaa road, with stated exceptions for coastal areas along the peninsula’s west and east. U.S. advice separately places Northern and Middle Sinai at Level 4 and Egypt overall at increased caution. Consult the exact advisory map and current local restrictions; these descriptions do not certify a particular camp, transfer or mountain outing as safe.
Red Sea nature and protected-area stays
The official Experience Egypt Sharm al-Sheikh page describes coral-reef scenery between Ras Muhammad National Park and Nabq Protectorate and mentions Bedouin camping in those protected areas. That is a destination reference, not blanket authorization to pitch a personal tent. Keep to approved visitor activities, avoid touching coral or disturbing wildlife, and confirm overnight arrangements for the precise location.
South Sinai camping: BEDAWI’s published offer
The BEDAWI Eco Camping Ras Mohamed operator page advertises furnished bell tents, solar charging, freshwater beach showers and an eco toilet. Its prices assume two people sharing a tent: €30 per person half board, bookable on arrival only, or €40 full board. These are advertised packages, not own-tent pitch rates or confirmed availability. The operator requires a quotation and confirmation process; obtain the complete current terms before relying on them.
Park charges and camp food are separate
The same operator lists an additional park charge of US$10 per camping guest aged seven or older per night/24 hours, with a further private-vehicle charge, payable to the park. Reconfirm these amounts with the administration. Transfers, extra drinks, snorkeling equipment and towel service are excluded. Meals are prepared at camp; ask about dietary needs and the exact board basis. No separate public restaurant beside an authorized own-tent pitch was verified. This review did not make a booking.
Saint Catherine heritage and a separate museum outing
UNESCO’s Saint Catherine Area record describes the monastery, its manuscripts and icons, and a rugged religious landscape sacred to Christianity, Islam and Judaism. Inscription is not a current opening notice or permission for a summit walk. The official Sharm destination page also identifies Sharm al-Sheikh Museum as a cultural option. Museum dates, tickets and a mountain visit require separate confirmation; neither is presented as an on-site camp facility.
South Sinai camping: permissions, seasons and distances
No named free pitch with verified current permission and a stay limit was established. Ask the park and lawful operator to confirm the exact approved overnight site, visitor eligibility, entry arrangements and any route-specific security or guide requirements. Check official entry rules for your nationality rather than assuming a resort entry stamp covers every excursion. No camp-to-monastery or camp-to-museum drive time was verified. Coastal heat, mountain cold and flash-flood conditions require different forecasts, equipment and contingency plans.
Official availability notice
Use the linked park, tourism, heritage and operator channels to check present access and services. A published rate is not a live place, and protected-area admission differs from permission to camp. Confirm potable water, sanitation, lighting, waste collection, communications, cancellation terms and transfers for the precise stay. Do not apply a coastal property’s terms to an independent desert or mountain route.
See our North Sinai reference for the separate northern governorate and its stricter warning. Read each area’s advice independently; the links provide a regional comparison rather than a recommended through-itinerary. Editorial review: 25 October 2026. Desk research without direct operator confirmation, reservations or on-site inspection. Currency references retain the operator’s euros and U.S. dollars; no exchange-rate conversion is claimed.
