Savinja Camping Guide, Slovenia: Nature and Practical Tips

Savinja camping offers a starting point for exploring Rečica ob Savinji and the Upper Savinja Valley. This guide focuses on one practical base and nearby outings within Slovenia’s Savinjska statistical region, with costs, food and cultural planning.

Savinja camping: choose your base

Camping Menina: Menina is a riverside camping base in the Upper Savinja Valley. The operator offers pitches and several prepared accommodation types. Specify your equipment and required pitch rather than comparing a cottage package with touring camping.

Camping prices and reservations

The 2026 adult camping rate is €12.50 in the January 1–June 19 and September 1–December 31 bands, rising to €18 in the July 12–August 20 band. These are per-person amounts, not complete pitch totals. Confirm your pitch charge, power, tourist tax, registration and the exact seasonal band on the full tariff. Check the operator’s information.

Before payment, confirm the dimensions of your tent or vehicle, pitch access, the people included and cancellation conditions. Ask separately about drinking-water filling, waste disposal and electricity capacity. Facilities for prepared accommodation should not be assumed available to every touring pitch.

Nature and cultural visits

Choose a local Savinja Valley day before a longer Logar Valley outing. The regional tourism portal highlights the valley and nature parks. River activities require their own operator, equipment and conditions checks; a riverside pitch does not establish safe independent paddling.

Develop the wider route through the Upper Savinja tourism portal, which includes local heritage and village experiences. Keep cultural visits and longer mountain walks on separate days when the driving or weather would make a combined itinerary rushed. Official visitor information.

Where to eat

Camping Menina has restaurant information and a published menu. For a separate Logar Valley dining trip, regional tourism identifies Restaurant Plesnik as a fine-dining option drawing on local flavours. Check reservations and service dates. Dining information.

Distances and a realistic day plan

From Rečica ob Savinji to the Logar Valley area, allow roughly 40–55 km and 50–75 minutes each way as a planning estimate. Mountain roads, traffic and your actual trailhead can change the journey.

Keep the first day flexible for arrival and setting up. On the next day, choose one main outdoor outing and leave enough time for meals and the return journey. Check opening hours before adding a museum to the same day.

Free camping and overnight permissions

No authorised free overnight location was verified for this itinerary. Use a confirmed campsite or designated motorhome stop and follow its registration, fee and stay-limit rules. A quiet car park or riverbank does not establish permission to camp.

Season and equipment

Match travel dates to the campsite’s confirmed season. Spring and autumn may suit lower-level walks, while Alpine and underground visits need their own clothing and conditions checks. Carry rain protection, layers, sturdy footwear, water and a first-aid kit. Follow current fire restrictions and the host’s cooking rules.

Compare the regions in our Slovenia camping guide before deciding how many bases your available days can comfortably support.
