Punjab camping in Pakistan can mean a furnished pod in the Murree hills rather than a personal tent in the wilderness. Use Patriata as a documented outdoor-accommodation lead, and plan Lahore’s cultural visits separately. This guide concerns Pakistan’s Punjab, not the Indian state with the same name.
Travel warning — reviewed 24 October 2026: The U.S. advises reconsidering travel to Pakistan. UK regional advice includes Dera Ghazi Khan and areas near the Indian border. Check the exact route before booking. Read U.S. travel advice and UK regional advice.
Nature and destination context
Patriata, also called New Murree, provides a hill-and-forest setting for an outdoor break. The Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab lists its Patriata resort among provincial properties. Do not assume that a visit to the hill station includes unrestricted access to surrounding forest or permission to camp outside the resort.
Punjab camping: documented stays and limitations
TDCP’s published Patriata glamping promotion advertises two-bed and four-bed pods. These are furnished structures; they are not a promise of a pitch for your own tent. Ask the resort to confirm the exact unit, bathroom arrangements, bedding, heating and access before paying.
Free camping and overnight permission
No unrestricted free public tent site was verified. A roadside viewpoint, picnic area or forest clearing is not evidence of camping consent.
Prices and the trip budget
The TDCP promotion lists PKR 4,000 per night for a two-bed pod and PKR 6,000 for a four-bed pod. The post’s publication date was not established, so treat these as published reference prices rather than confirmed current tariffs. Request a dated quote including taxes, meals and any chairlift or transfer charges.
For any future booking that is appropriate under the current advice, request the precise location, occupancy, payment terms and services in writing. Ask which authority approves overnight use and whether your vehicle and equipment are accepted. No motorhome hookups, dump station or universal car-camping entitlement was verified for this guide.
Food and dining
Haveli Restaurant is on Fort Road Food Street in Lahore and is a documented city dining lead for a separate heritage day. Check its current menu and access arrangements. It is not a restaurant beside the Patriata pods; ask TDCP about food at the resort for the overnight portion of your trip.
Culture and heritage
Lahore Fort and Shalamar Gardens are a UNESCO World Heritage property. The Rohtas Fort is another separate heritage destination. Choose visits that fit the journey rather than presenting all of Punjab as one compact campsite neighborhood. Confirm tickets and visiting conditions directly.
Access, season and equipment
Arrange the actual arrival method with TDCP. Ask whether you will reach the accommodation by road or need an operating lift service, and what happens if weather interrupts access. Keep daylight for arrival. Lahore and Murree need separate travel planning, so obtain a realistic transfer estimate rather than treating them as a day walk apart.
Hill weather and lowland conditions can differ sharply. Ask about cold nights, rain, road access and seasonal closures at Patriata. For Lahore, check local weather and air-quality conditions before outdoor sightseeing. Carry layers and rain protection for the hills, and avoid plans dependent on an unconfirmed last lift.
Plan with current information
Keep the travel warning, accommodation listing and overnight authorization as separate checks. A scenic photograph or an advertised package cannot answer all three. Carry out waste, protect water sources and follow the land manager’s fire rules. Use our Pakistan camping guide to compare the regional information before considering a trip.
