Northern District Camping Guide: Belvoir Landscapes, Camping and Heritage

Northern District camping offers very different landscapes across a large area. This guide focuses on the documented Kokhav HaYarden campground and fortress setting, without treating the whole north as one safe travel zone. A named managed camp is a starting point for confirmation, not a live reservation.

Current travel warning

Reviewed 24 October 2026: UK travel advice includes regional exclusions and escalation risks. Check your exact route and current local instructions before booking.

Parts of the far north are excluded by UK advice. This guide provides no itinerary through excluded areas or the occupied Golan Heights.

Official availability notice

Before travelling or reserving, investigate availability on the official Nature and Parks Authority portal and the selected site’s official page. Confirm opening, overnight availability, permits and restrictions with the responsible authority. A published campground description or tariff does not establish that it is operating on your intended dates.

Nature and outdoor visits

The Nature and Parks Authority’s Kokhav HaYarden Campsite page introduces an elevated landscape associated with a fortress. Choose permitted walking areas and ask the park about current access. An open view does not authorize crossing fences, farmland or sensitive areas to find a private pitch.

Northern District camping: documented overnight lead

The official listing describes lighting, toilets, cooking-area water and sinks, tables and phone-charging facilities. It specifically says there are no showers. Its text and dog icon are inconsistent, so obtain a direct answer before bringing a pet. Generators and amplified sound are prohibited in the published visitor information.

Paid camping and published reference tariffs

The regular published rate is ILS 47 per adult and ILS 35 per child for an overnight in your own tent. Two adults and two children therefore total ILS 164 under that displayed category, before any additional charges. Confirm age bands, occupancy and final checkout price. This is a website tariff reviewed on the stated date, not a quoted booking.

Free camping and vehicle limitations

No nearby free overnight location with current permission and documented stay limits was verified. A picnic area or viewpoint is not a free campsite. No complete touring-motorhome service bay was established for this itinerary; ask about the exact vehicle and sanitation requirements separately.

Restaurants and local food

The tourism listing for Rutenberg near Kibbutz Gesher provides a regional restaurant lead with locally inspired chef cooking. Confirm current service, menu and access directly. It is a separate outing from the campground, not a walk-in camp kitchen or a meal included with the pitch.

Museums, heritage and culture

The fortress setting gives this itinerary a heritage focus as well as an outdoor one. Ask the park which sections are accessible and whether a separate admission or guided activity applies. Respect conservation boundaries; walls, archaeological ground and closed structures are not places to put tents.

Access and practical distances

The official approach uses a signed access road from Highway 90. Obtain current directions and arrival instructions from the park rather than improvising a shortcut. No live campsite-to-restaurant journey time was verified, and traffic or access restrictions can change the plan.

Season, equipment and booking checks

Choose an outing using the actual forecast, daylight and site instructions. For exposed walks, carry sufficient drinking water, sun protection, a headlamp and an appropriate first-aid kit. Match bedding and clothing to overnight conditions, which can differ sharply from daytime temperatures. Avoid a canyon or wadi activity when flood conditions are possible.

Before payment, confirm your exact accommodation, bathrooms, equipment, vehicle access, cooking rules and arrival deadline. Ask about children, pets and dietary needs separately. Keep a confirmed accommodation alternative if the outdoor plan cannot operate. A park listing does not replace current security instructions or authorize use of a closed site.
