Lombardy Camping Guide: Onore and the Clusone Foothills

Lombardy camping covers far more than its famous lakes. This itinerary uses Onore in the Bergamo foothills for local walks and a cultural outing to Clusone, with the high mountains treated as a separate undertaking.

Build your route with the Italy camping guide and regional directory.

Lombardy camping: nature and outdoor visits

Ask the local visitor centre for a marked walk appropriate to your ability around Onore and the Clusone area. The Clusone tourism guide introduces the setting. Choose a shorter route after rain and do not assume a foothill campsite makes exposed mountain trails suitable for beginners.

Established camping and published rates

Campeggio Don Bosco, Via Poerza 500, Onore, publishes 2026 daily rates. Low season, 5 January–31 May and 14 September–20 December, is €8 per adult plus €7 tent pitch or €10 camper pitch: €23 for two with a tent or €26 with a camper. July–August rates are €12 per adult plus €10 tent or €17 camper: €34/€41. The daily tariff includes water, electricity, hot showers, one car place and pool access; confirm seasonal pool operation and any taxes. Check opening, pitch suitability and reservations directly.

Free camping and permission

No specific free overnight campsite was verified for this itinerary. Use the established paid option above or confirm a designated alternative with its manager and local authorities. A beach, picnic spot, trailhead or ordinary car park is not proof of camping permission. Check local signs, protected-area rules and vehicle restrictions before stopping.

Culture and heritage

Spend a separate half-day in Clusone around the historic town hall. Check museum or church access ahead and leave room for a relaxed town walk.

Where to eat

The official regional campsite listing identifies an on-site restaurant at Don Bosco. Ask reception about its current menu and meal service; do not assume it operates every day outside summer.

Practical Lombardy camping information

The operator places the site 39 km from Bergamo and 15 km from Lake Iseo. Allow roughly an hour from Bergamo in ordinary conditions, with extra time for traffic and the final approach. Late spring to early autumn suits general touring. Bring rainwear, walking shoes and warm sleeping layers.

A relaxed two-night plan

Arrive with enough daylight to check the pitch and facilities. Keep the first evening close to camp, then spend the full day on foothill walks and Clusone heritage. Leave room for meals, weather changes and local transfers. Before departure, dispose of rubbish and wastewater in the proper facilities and confirm your next site’s arrival arrangements.

Source and tariff check: 16 October 2026. Published prices are reference checks, not live booking quotes or proof of availability. The quoted year and dates matter; do not carry a 2026 price into a later season. Confirm taxes, extras, services and the full amount directly with the operator. Distances and times are approximate planning estimates.
