Central Division Fiji camping planning starts with the actual host, island and overnight product. This guide introduces selected options in Fiji’s Central Division, rather than every island, village or campsite. It distinguishes advertised camping from supplied rooms and bures, and explains where a current complete pitch price still needs confirmation.
Central Division Fiji camping: natural places
Beqa Island’s Lawaki Beach House provides a coastal and forest-stay enquiry within the Central Division itinerary. Snorkelling, kayaking and walks require checks of present conditions and local guidance. A beachfront setting does not establish safe swimming at every tide or permission to pitch anywhere along the coast.
Camping and paid stays
Lawaki’s tent-camping page says camping is available on selected dates, but also contains generic placeholder descriptions and room-style prices. Those displayed amounts and amenities are not used here as a verified camping quotation. Obtain written confirmation of the actual pitch, dates, toilets, showers and complete cost directly. The separate accommodation page lists Beach Bure 1 from FJ$198/night and dorm accommodation from FJ$80/person/night, with a compulsory meal plan additional. These are supplied accommodation prices, not tent rates.
Free camping, permission and maximum stay
No free overnight site with fully verified current authorization and a numeric maximum stay was established for this selected itinerary. Obtain express permission from the responsible landowner and host, including the exact place, stay limit and rules. A village welcome, beach outing or park-entry ticket does not by itself establish overnight permission.
Tents, cars and motorhomes
Confirm the pitch category, dimensions, equipment hire, toilets, drinking water, washing, cooking and waste disposal individually. No serviced caravan or motorhome pitch is inferred from a road or resort car park. A supplied bure is conventional accommodation, and a property called a camp may offer rooms rather than space for your own tent.
Culture and interpretation
Fiji Museum in Suva’s Thurston Gardens offers cultural and archaeological collections. Its own current page lists normal admission at FJ$20 for overseas adults aged 16+, FJ$10 for overseas children 2–15, and local rates of FJ$10/FJ$5. Check current opening and tour charges. This is a separate mainland visit, not an attraction beside the Beqa pitch.
Restaurants and meals
Lawaki’s Essential Meal Plan lists breakfast, lunch, dinner and tea/coffee at FJ$137 per adult/day and FJ$97 for children up to 14. Menus use local and seasonal ingredients, including Fijian and Indo-Fijian dishes. The operator says there are no outside meal options at its remote location. Confirm that plan’s application to the proposed camping product and all extras before reserving.
Season, distances and equipment
Lawaki’s transfer page gives a charter estimate of 40–70 minutes from Navua depending on conditions. The listed one-way charter is FJ$340 for one to four passengers, with FJ$85 per extra person and an eight-adult maximum. Reconfirm the complete transport quote and swell conditions. Suva museum travel needs its own mainland route plan and is not included in that boat time.
Dated sources and final checks
Research checked October 28, 2026. All prices marked FJ$ are Fiji dollars and apply to the stated product and conditions. Reconfirm the complete dated total, taxes, extra occupants, meals, guides and transfers before paying. A displayed starting rate is not a guaranteed final camping bill.
Read the national guide’s official weather and travel sources and current operator notices before departure. Choose dates using the activity’s actual conditions, not a general beach-season assumption. Respect local hosts, obtain consent for photography and use approved waste arrangements.
