This Cameroon camping guide links all ten regions, with nature, cultural heritage and carefully qualified overnight information. It distinguishes advertised camping products from conventional hotels, unverified pitches and areas where recreational travel should be deferred. Read the travel warnings before choosing a region or contacting an operator.
Travel warnings come first
The US travel advisory says not to travel to the North-West, South-West and Far North regions. UK advice has detailed regional and border restrictions, including all-but-essential guidance for the North and specific parts of Adamawa. Its boundaries and exceptions differ from US advice. Read the advice relevant to you in full, with the current map, before making any plan. This series is not a recommendation to visit warned-against areas.

Cameroon camping products and their limits
The East guide examines the ministry’s Lobéké offer, which advertises equipment rental and headquarters accommodation. Its worked budget and charging units need clarification, so this guide does not turn them into an all-in trip price. The South-West reference describes advertised Mount Cameroon tent facilities, while retaining the no-travel warning. A published product does not establish present access or make a journey advisable. Conventional hotel leads elsewhere are explicitly identified as rooms, not tent pitches.
Cameroon camping costs, bookings and facilities
Request a dated written quotation in a stated currency. Separate entry charges, accommodation, tent hire, guide and staff costs, food, drinking water, transport, taxes and cancellation terms. Ask whether a fee is per person, night, day, hour or group; do not fill in an unclear unit yourself. Confirm the exact sleeping site and who authorises it. A property with a garden or a car park has not thereby advertised camping or overnight vehicle acceptance.
Conservation and cultural heritage
The tourism ministry’s regional index supplies the ten-region framework. UNESCO’s Cameroon inventory distinguishes inscribed properties from the Tentative List. The Diy-Gid-Biy cultural landscape was inscribed in 2025; Bafut, Waza and Rey-Bouba are not interchangeable with that status. Heritage recognition never substitutes for current access permission. Use protected-area managers, museums and willing community hosts as the authorities for their own activities.
Rooms, restaurants and a workable base
The regional guides identify direct hotel or dining sources where they were established: Yaoundé and Douala city properties, Bafoussam accommodation and the Kribi coast, alongside qualified references farther north. Confirm room operation and restaurant service separately. Do not promise a museum opening, a wildlife sighting, a performance or a particular meal from an old brochure. Secure return transport and keep enough time for changes to the actual booking.
Free camping and responsible enquiries
No verified nationwide free-camping network or public motorhome service network is offered by this series. Remote land, sacred forest, a fishing landing or a protected beach is not a default overnight option. Obtain specific approval and ask about sanitation, water, waste, fire rules, vehicle access and limits. Respect hosts’ consent and photography rules. Where leisure travel is advised against, use the page for research and postpone the trip.
Travel preparation and current availability
Check official entry requirements for your passport and purpose before arranging transport. Discuss personal health preparation and any documentation with qualified professionals and the relevant authorities. Recheck the complete official travel advice, insurance conditions and local operating information immediately before a decision. Do not treat a booking confirmation as an assessment of border risk or emergency support.
