Cabo Verde Camping Guide: All Ten Islands and Places to Visit

This Cabo Verde camping guide connects all ten main islands, with nature, culture, dining and carefully qualified overnight leads. Nine islands have resident communities; Santa Luzia is included as a protected-island reference, with access restrictions rather than a recreational camping offer. Choose a confirmed base and realistic connections before planning activities.

Cabo Verde camping: advertised products and honest limits

Soltur advertises guided camping on Santo Antão. Boa Vista’s municipality-sponsored portal offers organised beach camping. Sodade on Fogo advertises furnished domes. These are different products, not a network of public pitches. The remaining island guides give conventional accommodation or enquiry leads where established. No verified free camping area or public motorhome service network is offered by this series.

Cabo Verde camping prices and what to confirm

The Boa Vista guide explains displayed group-dependent package prices and inclusions. Do not compare an organised camp with a hotel room or independent tent fee as though they were equivalent. Obtain a dated total in a stated currency, including taxes, transport, equipment, meals, guiding and any entry or permission charges. Ask for the exact overnight location, sanitation, water, arrival details and cancellation terms. Verify the operator and payment channel before paying.

Travel warnings: sea, weather and trails

Read the current UK travel advice and Canada’s Cabo Verde guidance. Strong currents and unpredictable waves can make shore access dangerous: use supervised beaches and follow warning flags. Rain around mid-August to mid-October can disrupt roads and trails; dust episodes can affect flights. Sea travel, particularly to Fogo and Brava, can be disrupted. Fogo is an active volcanic landscape, so follow local authorities and qualified guides. Protect belongings and plan secure overnight accommodation. A brochure’s description of calm water or easy access is not a present safety assessment.

Protected land and Santa Luzia

The official tourism index describes restricted access to Santa Luzia. It remains a conservation reference in this grid. Boat hire does not replace authority approval, and fishing or research activity does not create a public camping right. Elsewhere, confirm reserve rules, land-manager permission and wildlife measures for the actual site. Do not pitch on a nesting beach or drive over dunes because an older trip report describes doing so.

Food, museums and a workable island schedule

The island guides identify direct dining sources where available, including room properties whose restaurants accept enquiries separately. Check actual service and reservations. Use the heritage institute’s museum information for cultural planning, confirming public opening directly. Build activities from the accommodation actually booked, and arrange return transport. Retain spare time around sea and air connections rather than treating a general island description as a current timetable.

Entry and transport checks

Check Cabo Verde’s government entry information for requirements applying to your passport and purpose, and use the relevant carrier’s current booking information for island transfers. Do not assume every island has the same transport options or that a vehicle can accompany you. If a connection changes, confirm another room night rather than improvising an unauthorised overnight stay.

Reviewed October 2026. Availability is not guaranteed. This series covers islands and selected places within them, not every settlement individually. Reconfirm all services, permissions and travel advice for the actual dates.
