Brittany Camping Guide: Pink Granite Coast & Coastal Trails

Brittany camping combines coastal walks, small harbours and wooded inland trips. For a first coastal base, Ploumanac’h and Perros-Guirec let you walk among pink granite formations without changing camps every night. Keep Crozon, the Gulf of Morbihan and inland forests as separate stages.

Departments covered by this regional guide

Côtes-d’Armor, Finistère, Ille-et-Vilaine and Morbihan. Nantes and Loire-Atlantique belong to Pays de la Loire in the current regional organization.

Natural places to visit

Explore the Sentier des Douaniers around Ploumanac’h and visit Saint-Guirec or Trestraou for a beach day. The Sept-Îles archipelago is a protected wildlife destination; use an authorized excursion and follow landing restrictions.

Elsewhere in Brittany, consider Crozon’s coastal scenery, the monts d’Arrée, the Gulf of Morbihan and forest walks near Paimpont. Choose marked routes and keep cliff edges, tides and weather in your daily plan.

Camping inside the destination

West Camping in Ploumanac’h accepts tents and touring equipment in an established coastal base. Its published 2026 season runs March 28–November 1. Reserve a pitch and confirm the next season directly; a beach visit does not include permission to sleep on the sand.

Nearby free camping and authorized bivouac

No verified free serviced tent campsite was established for the Pink Granite Coast itinerary. In western Brittany, Armorique park guidance explains that many classified or listed sites restrict bivouac. Any permitted one-night arrangement must be checked for the precise parcel, owner and local rules; motorized access is a separate issue.

The official West Camping listing gives a 2026 daily range of €20–€38 for two adults, pitch and car, and the same published range for its two-adult camper package. Confirm the seasonal band, electricity and tourist tax before treating either amount as your full total.

Electric hookups, laundry and a motorhome area are advertised. Ask about fresh water, waste disposal, shower access, pitch slope and vehicle length. Confirm which leisure facilities operate outside peak summer.

Restaurants, museums and cultural stops

Ossa, at 164 Rue Saint-Guirec, is a crêperie option near the coastal visit. Check menus and reserve as needed. The harbour, Mean Ruz lighthouse setting and La Clarté heritage make natural complements to a short walk.

The local heritage directory helps plan these stops. Further regional culture days can include Quimper, Saint-Malo or Vannes, using a closer campsite rather than a long return drive from Perros.

Best season, access, distances and equipment

From West Camping, the local tourist listing places Ploumanac’h harbour around 800 m away and Saint-Guirec beach around 1.2 km away. Allow roughly 15–25 minutes on foot, depending on route and mobility. Central Perros and Trestraou are short local outings of about 4–7 km / 10–20 minutes by road.

Late spring to early autumn usually offers the easiest camping rhythm, with summer demand highest. Bring rain protection, layers, sturdy shoes, sun protection and tide information. Never use an exposed coastal path as a shortcut when the sea or wind changes.

Reviewed October 13, 2026. Prices are dated published references, not guaranteed quotes. Driving distances and times are broad planning estimates from the stated base; add walking time and confirm current routes, seasonal opening, permissions and booking conditions.
