Shefa Vanuatu camping planning starts with the actual island, host and overnight product. This guide introduces selected nature and cultural enquiries in Shefa Province, rather than every village or campsite. It distinguishes own-tent camping from supplied bungalows and identifies where prices or present services require direct confirmation.
Shefa Vanuatu camping: nature and access
North Efate’s Le Life provides a reef-coast, river and forest-stay enquiry. Confirm the actual activity, guide, local permissions and present conditions. A campsite reservation does not establish suitable water levels or access to every nearby village and trail.
Camping and paid overnight stays
Le Life’s reservation page advertises own-tent camping from 1,500 VT per tent for two people and mentions a two-night resort minimum. However, its separate camping page states from 1,500 VT per person/night and 1,000 VT per child/night, with supplied tent options and shared shower/kitchen access. The price units conflict. Do not use either as a guaranteed bill: obtain the actual tent category, nightly unit, occupancy, minimum stay and total directly. Confirm equipment hire and current facility access separately.
Free camping, permission and maximum stay
No free overnight location with fully verified current authorization and a numeric maximum stay was established for this selected itinerary. Obtain express permission from the responsible landowner, host and any relevant conservation manager. Agree the exact location, stay limit, fees and rules; a beach outing, village welcome or sightseeing ticket does not establish overnight permission.
Tents, cars and motorhomes
Confirm equipment, occupancy, toilets, safe drinking water, washing, cooking, power and approved waste disposal individually. No serviced caravan or motorhome pitch is inferred from road access or a bungalow car park. Ask separately about tent hire, bedding and camper access to lodge amenities. Island transfers need their own baggage and equipment agreement.
Culture and interpretation
Vanuatu Cultural Centre and National Museum in Port Vila provides a cultural enquiry at Nambatu opposite Parliament. Confirm current visitor access and exhibits directly, particularly after earlier earthquake disruption. It is a separate city trip, not a facility within the north-Efate campsite.
Restaurants and meals
The Tourism Office’s Le Life listing identifies a seafood restaurant overlooking the bay. Confirm its present menu, opening, camper access and dietary options directly. No fixed meal tariff is asserted. A shared kitchen listing does not include food or guarantee that all cookware is supplied.
Season, distance and equipment
The operator’s homepage places the resort about 59km from Bauerfield airport and describes an indicative one-hour journey from the city. Confirm the actual shuttle and route conditions. Use a separate plan for the museum. Follow current Port Vila closure notices rather than entering damaged or restricted areas from an old map.
Dated travel and booking checks
Research checked October 28, 2026. Prices marked VT are Vanuatu vatu and apply only to the stated product and conditions. Reconfirm taxes, extra occupants, meals, guides and transfers in a complete dated quote. Where no numeric maximum stay was verified, ask the manager instead of assuming unlimited occupancy.
Read the national guide’s official weather, geohazard and travel sources before departure. Local activity and transport can change at short notice. Respect landowners and cultural protocols, carry the supplies required by your booking and agree communications and emergency arrangements for remote journeys.
