La Massana Camping Guide: Comapedrosa, Arinsal & Pal

Natural places: Comapedrosa, Arinsal and Pal

La Massana camping gives access to village walks and more demanding Pyrenean routes. Choose shorter woodland paths near Arinsal or Pal for a gentle day; reserve a longer weather window for higher lake or summit excursions.

The Comapedrosa park authority describes a protected landscape of forests, small lakes and waterfalls. Its trails cover very different levels of effort. Do not treat the highest summit as an ordinary family walk or set a route only by straight-line distance.

Camping inside the natural destination

Unrestricted tent camping inside Comapedrosa was not verified. Check the park’s current instruction for any proposed overnight spot. A refuge terrace, lake edge or empty meadow is not a confirmed tent pitch.

The guarded Comapedrosa refuge provides a booked indoor alternative reached on foot. Confirm its actual operating dates, bed availability, catering and equipment requirements; hiking to the refuge is not a drive-in camping journey.

Nearby free camping

No authorized free serviced tent site was verified around the proposed trails. Confirm any specific bivouac arrangement with the park instead of assuming a national altitude rule. A free or unguarded mountain shelter must also be distinguished from a reserved tent pitch and a vehicle overnight area.

Xixerella Park on the Xixerella–Pal road in La Massana advertises tents, caravans and motorhomes, with water and electricity access and nearby hot showers, bathrooms and laundry. Confirm your equipment size, parking, vehicle disposal, any seasonal services and accessible facilities.

A current complete touring tariff was not retrieved. Request a dated total for guests, tent or vehicle, car and electricity rather than applying an apartment or bungalow discount to camping. Confirm arrival, departure, minimum stay and cancellation conditions before booking.

Restaurants and cultural visits

Borda de l’Avi at Avinguda del Ravell 38 in La Massana offers an Andorran borda dining setting. Ask about its current traditional menu and reserve after choosing your walking schedule. Xixerella also links a restaurant through its operator site.

The official parish cultural itinerary introduces Pal, Sispony and village heritage. Add Casa Rull in Sispony or the Comapedrosa Interpretation Centre in Arinsal, checking current tours and opening times.

Practical information

From Xixerella estimate roughly 3–5 km / 5–10 minutes towards Pal or Arinsal village, 4–7 km / 10–15 minutes to La Massana, and around 5–8 km / 10–20 minutes towards the Comapedrosa trail access. The substantial mountain walk begins after parking; confirm the correct gate and trailhead.

Summer and early autumn usually provide the most straightforward camping conditions. Carry water, warm layers, a waterproof shell, grippy boots, maps and a headlamp. Via ferratas require their own equipment and skills; snow and ice can change the difficulty of otherwise familiar routes.

Reviewed October 13, 2026. Distances and driving times are approximate planning estimates. Confirm the actual route, current permissions, operating dates and the full payable tariff with the authority or operator.
