Central District Camping Guide: Yarkon Sources Camping, Tel Afek and Local Food

Central District camping is represented here by Yarkon Sources, a documented managed campground near the upper river. It should not be confused with Tel Aviv’s city park farther downstream. This guide combines a specific overnight lead with nature, archaeology and a regional dining inquiry.

Current travel warning

Reviewed 24 October 2026: UK travel advice includes regional exclusions and escalation risks. Check your exact route and current local instructions before booking.

Official availability notice

Before travelling or reserving, investigate availability on the official Nature and Parks Authority portal and the selected site’s official page. Confirm opening, overnight availability, permits and restrictions with the responsible authority. A published campground description or tariff does not establish that it is operating on your intended dates.

Nature and outdoor visits

The authority’s Yarkon National Park overview distinguishes the Sources and Tel Afek areas and describes riverside vegetation and water-lily ponds. Follow current marked access. Water features and riverside scenery do not amount to swimming permission or a tent allocation.

Central District camping: documented overnight lead

The official Yarkon Campsite page describes lighting, hot showers, toilets and a field kitchen. Published text prohibits dogs, generators and amplified sound, although a dog icon elsewhere on the page conflicts with the text. Ask the site to resolve that before any pet booking.

Paid camping and published reference tariffs

The regular published own-tent rate is ILS 64 per adult and ILS 47 per child. A two-adult, two-child example is ILS 222 before other charges. The tariff separately lists ILS 70 for an RV electrical hookup; confirm whether this is additional to occupancy fees and whether a suitable bay is available. It does not establish a wastewater disposal facility.

Free camping and vehicle limitations

No authorized free alternative with current stay limits was verified. Public park access, a day ticket and overnight permission are distinct. If no suitable pitch is available, book conventional accommodation rather than moving to an unmarked riverbank.

Restaurants and local food

NONO Hod Hasharon’s restaurant booking page provides a regional dining lead; its restaurant description identifies southern-Italian-inspired food. Confirm the exact branch, menu and operating schedule. It is not a restaurant inside the campground, and an evening meal needs its own transport plan.

Museums, heritage and culture

Tel Afek’s archaeological setting offers a cultural addition within the wider national park. Check which gate and ticket apply to your visit; an overnight in the Sources area does not automatically establish unrestricted access to every part of the park. Stay within conservation boundaries.

Access and practical distances

The official campground page places Yarkon National Park on Highway 40 between Hod Hasharon and Petach Tikva. Use the campsite entrance, not a generic Tel Aviv park pin. No live transfer time to the restaurant was verified. Ask about arrival deadlines and retain a clear return route.

Season, equipment and booking checks

Choose an outing using the actual forecast, daylight and site instructions. For exposed walks, carry sufficient drinking water, sun protection, a headlamp and an appropriate first-aid kit. Match bedding and clothing to overnight conditions, which can differ sharply from daytime temperatures. Avoid a canyon or wadi activity when flood conditions are possible.

Before payment, confirm your exact accommodation, bathrooms, equipment, vehicle access, cooking rules and arrival deadline. Ask about children, pets and dietary needs separately. Keep a confirmed accommodation alternative if the outdoor plan cannot operate. A park listing does not replace current security instructions or authorize use of a closed site.

See our Israel destination overview for the six-district grid. Editorial review: 24 October 2026. No live booking, operator contact or on-site inspection was made. Quoted figures are published reference tariffs; confirm the applicable visitor category and final price directly.
