This Bangladesh camping guide links all eight divisions, from northern heritage towns to tea country, delta waterways and the coast. Start by choosing a confirmed overnight product. An adventure venue, a day picnic spot, a room and a night aboard a forest-tour vessel are different arrangements, with different permissions and services.
Explore Bangladesh by division
Use the cards below to choose a landscape and a realistic base. Each guide identifies its documented options and explains where camping, fees or facilities could not be confirmed. A division is larger than its main city: allow separate transfers for distant cultural sites, forests, wetlands and beaches.

What kind of overnight stay is available?
Foy’s Lake BASECAMP publishes a reservation-only tent-stay package in Chattogram. BASECAMP Gazipur lists a night-stay programme that needs direct confirmation of the sleeping product and inclusions. In the Sundarbans, the Forest Department provides a system for managed overnight trips involving registered operators and vessels. A boat overnight does not grant independent camping permission ashore.
Elsewhere, the guides use room-based alternatives when an authorized campsite could not be established. No authorized free overnight campsite was verified for this series. A park entry ticket, a boat landing, an empty beach or an invitation to visit a farm should not be interpreted as consent to pitch a tent.
Rates, meals and facilities
Published reference prices retain their original currency, Bangladeshi taka, shown as BDT. Confirm whether a quote is per person, room or package, and ask about taxes, meals, tent occupancy, equipment, transport and supplements. The Foy’s Lake figure is a package reference; the motel examples in Rangpur and Rajshahi are room prices, not campsite charges.
Ask the actual provider about drinking water, toilets, bathing, bedding, charging, food hours and waste disposal. A programme called “camp” does not establish every facility. Restaurant or host-meal information is linked where verified, and gaps are identified. Confirm dietary requirements directly rather than assuming that fish, meat or vegetarian dishes are available at every remote stop.
Regional restrictions and responsible access
The UK FCDO advises against all but essential travel to the three Chittagong Hill Tracts districts: Rangamati, Khagrachari and Bandarban. Its regional notice distinguishes those districts from Chittagong city and other parts of the division. Check the current regional advice and applicable visitor permissions before any hill-country extension. A booking at a city camp does not resolve restrictions elsewhere.
Water, storms and seasonal planning
Check current local forecasts and official notices before selecting outdoor nights. Flooding, heavy rain, landslides and coastal storms can interrupt journeys or make an outing unsuitable. Sylhet’s wetlands, a Sundarbans channel and a Kuakata beach require different local assessments. Choose a boat with appropriate safety equipment, confirm the return and respect closures. Do not camp on an exposed beach, unstable river char or flood-prone bank without explicit authorization and a current site assessment.
Food, culture and a manageable route
Combine outdoor time with a small number of cultural stops: Old Dhaka and Lalbagh, Mymensingh’s art and heritage, northern temples and palaces, Rajshahi’s archaeological destinations or Bagerhat’s mosque heritage. Confirm opening hours, dress respectfully and ask before portraits or entering homes. Working tea estates, fields and fishing communities are not unrestricted visitor space.
Begin with one division and a confirmed base, then add a second stage if time allows. Carry cash, drinking water, insect repellent, sun protection, rain gear, dry bags and a headlamp. Confirm the final transfer instead of assuming transport to a regional city reaches the overnight site. Keep a buffer before a fixed flight or long-distance connection.
