Central Visayas Camping Guide: Cebu Hills and Bohol Connections

This Central Visayas camping guide helps you choose an overnight base and plan outdoor days in the Philippines. This guide uses the current Cebu-and-Bohol focus of Central Visayas. Negros and Siquijor have a separate regional guide. Begin with one island base and make every ferry connection a planned transfer rather than a gap between sightseeing stops.

Nature and outdoor plans

Cebu’s official Alegria page lists waterfalls, Mt. Lanaya and Libo Hills. Choose the outing according to your group and conditions. Canyoneering is a guided specialist activity, not an extension of an independent campsite walk.

A concrete overnight enquiry

The provincial directory identifies Mt. Lanaya for camping and hiking and Libo Hills for camping. Ask Alegria’s tourism office about the current designated site, guide, registration and overnight facilities. No complete current tariff was verified, so request a written total before departure.

Free camping and paid-site checks

No specific, currently authorized zero-fee tent pitch was verified for this route. Ask the actual land manager before camping; a beach, viewpoint or picnic area does not establish overnight permission. For a paid stay, request a dated quotation for your party and distinguish a pitch, rented tent, furnished glamping tent and room. Check entry and environmental fees separately.

Food and supplies

House of Lechon in Cebu City is listed by the Michelin Guide at Acacia and Tojong Streets. It is a city dining option before or after the southbound journey, not a meal near Alegria’s hill camps. Agree food separately with your guide for the overnight.

Culture alongside the outdoors

Alegria’s official visitor page lists watchtower ruins, a heritage park and parish churches. Choose a nearby cultural stop alongside the nature day. A longer Bohol stage deserves its own cultural and outdoor itinerary rather than a rushed return crossing.

Make the route workable

The provincial page places Alegria about 120 kilometres from Cebu City and estimates roughly 3.5–4 hours by road. Treat that as a planning reference, with extra margin for traffic and the last trailhead transfer. Stay locally before a demanding outing rather than beginning it tired from the city journey.

Facilities, equipment and weather

Confirm drinking water, toilets, showers, bedding, charging and the last arrival time before leaving town. Bring rain protection, a headlamp and suitable footwear, and keep spare clothing dry. Ask which equipment your host supplies. Leave a weather buffer around boats and mountain stages; follow local closures and your guide’s decision on the day.
