Kotayk Armenia Camping Guide: Garni, Geghard and Serviced Camping

This Kotayk Armenia camping guide offers two different bases: Goght for the Garni–Geghard corridor, and Bjni for a separate valley stay. Pick the base for your main outing; a province-wide attraction list is not a promise of short daily transfers.

Nature and places to explore

The Azat Gorge and Symphony of Stones add a landscape visit to Garni’s heritage. Choose a suitable marked approach and avoid unstable rock faces. The wider province also includes forest and mountain destinations, but a Goght booking should not be stretched into a rushed circuit of every resort.

Camping, published prices and facilities

Camping 3 Gs in Goght publishes own-tent camping at 4,500 AMD per person per night, with shared cooking and bathroom facilities. The tent page gives a five-day maximum stay. Its camper page lists the same adult rate, power connections, water filling and wastewater drainage. Confirm vehicle size and current availability. The site advertises an April–October season, closing on 1 November. Camp Bjni separately lists tent stays from USD 7.50–24 per person per night and a June 1–October 15 tent season; confirm the tent type and what is included.

Free camping and overnight permission

No named free campsite with verified stay limits is added here. Use an allocated pitch or obtain specific local permission. A valley viewpoint, church forecourt or access track does not establish a lawful overnight. Keep access clear for residents and emergency vehicles.

Restaurants and local food

Camping 3 Gs provides shared kitchens, so self-catering is a practical choice. For a dining outing in the wider province, the Garni–Geghard community tourism website is a starting point for local hosts and cuisine. Arrange a named host, menu and price before travel; no individual restaurant tariff was verified for this guide.

Museums and cultural stops

Garni Temple and Geghard Monastery are the main heritage pairing. Geghard is a UNESCO-listed rock-cut monastic complex. Respect services and photography guidance, and confirm admission at each attraction independently. Keep the gorge walk separate if the group needs a shorter cultural day.

Season, access and a practical itinerary

Suggested sequence: settle into Goght, then visit Garni and Geghard with time for a walk. The campground quotes about 50 minutes by car to Yerevan, subject to traffic. For Bjni, plan a separate stay and confirm the last approach. Bring sun protection, footwear with grip and a warm night layer; campground swimming pools and water facilities may be seasonal.

Sources and booking checks

Sources checked 20 October 2026. Prices are published references, not a booking quote. Confirm dates, the billing unit, facilities, access and permissions directly. No operator was contacted. This guide is based on research, not a personal visit.
