Littoral-Inner Carniola camping offers a starting point for exploring Postojna, Pivka Jama and the Green Karst. This guide focuses on one practical base and nearby outings within Slovenia’s Primorsko-notranjska statistical region, with costs, food and cultural planning.
Checked October 16, 2026. Published seasonal dates and tariffs are dated references. Confirm operation and the full booking total for your actual stay.
Littoral-Inner Carniola camping: choose your base
Camping Pivka Jama: The operator separates touring camping from bungalows. Its 2026 camping tariff covers April 4–October 15, so later operation was not verified during this check. Confirm next-season opening dates and access for your equipment before arranging a cave-based holiday.
Camping prices and reservations
The published 2026 camping rate was €13 per person in the April 4–June 19 and September 1–October 15 bands, or €16 from June 20–August 31. The pitch itself was listed free, with electricity €6 and tourist tax €3.13. Two adults therefore had a base €26 or €32 before tax and electricity. Confirm the applicable tax unit, exemptions and full booking total directly. Check the operator’s information.
Before payment, confirm the dimensions of your tent or vehicle, pitch access, the people included and cancellation conditions. Ask separately about drinking-water filling, waste disposal and electricity capacity. Facilities for prepared accommodation should not be assumed available to every touring pitch.
Nature and cultural visits
The Green Karst tourism information describes Lake Cerknica as a changing landscape shaped by alternating wet and dry conditions. Visit the lake visitor centre for context, and choose an authorised route suited to the actual water level rather than expecting a permanent lakeside shoreline.
The Lake Cerknica visitor centre provides an interpretation of the landscape and its seasonal transformations. Cave visits around Postojna require their own booking, suitable footwear and warm layers; a camping reservation does not include cave access. Official visitor information.
Where to eat
The Pivka Jama tariff lists breakfast as an optional €9 addition. Confirm where and when it is served and whether other meals are available on your dates. Keep restaurant costs separate from the per-person camping tariff. Dining information.
Distances and a realistic day plan
The Postojna–Cerknica area is broadly a 20–30 km, 30–45 minute transfer depending on the campsite and visitor-centre route. These are planning ranges. Select a lake outing and a cave outing as distinct visits if timing is tight.
Keep the first day flexible for arrival and setting up. On the next day, choose one main outdoor outing and leave enough time for meals and the return journey. Check opening hours before adding a museum to the same day.
Free camping and overnight permissions
No authorised free overnight location was verified for this itinerary. Use a confirmed campsite or designated motorhome stop and follow its registration, fee and stay-limit rules. A quiet car park or riverbank does not establish permission to camp.
Season and equipment
Match travel dates to the campsite’s confirmed season. Spring and autumn may suit lower-level walks, while Alpine and underground visits need their own clothing and conditions checks. Carry rain protection, layers, sturdy footwear, water and a first-aid kit. Follow current fire restrictions and the host’s cooking rules.
