Upper Carniola camping: choose your base

Camping Šobec: Šobec at Lesce offers a camping base for the Bled area with several pitch categories and prepared accommodation choices. The published 2026 camping season ran April 4–October 11; do not assume availability after that date or reuse the dates for a later year without confirmation.

Camping prices and reservations

The 2026 low-season adult rate was €16.30 per night, plus €12 for a standard pitch including electricity, one vehicle and a tent or trailer. Two adults totalled €44.60 before tourist tax (€2.50 each nightly) and one-off check-in (€1.50 each). The relevant low bands were April 4–May 22 and September 21–October 11. This is a dated seasonal example, not an offer for a currently open pitch. Check the operator’s information.

Before payment, confirm the dimensions of your tent or vehicle, pitch access, the people included and cancellation conditions. Ask separately about drinking-water filling, waste disposal and electricity capacity. Facilities for prepared accommodation should not be assumed available to every touring pitch.

Nature and cultural visits

Use the Lesce–Bled base for a measured lake visit and a separate longer mountain day. Lakeside scenery does not establish safe conditions on a high trail. Check transport and parking for each attraction, and choose walks matched to the weather and your experience.

Bled Castle has a museum collection presenting the area’s history and culture. Allow time for the approach and views, and confirm tickets and current visitor access before arrival. Official visitor information.

Where to eat

Bled Castle’s official visitor information identifies a restaurant in the upper courtyard. Treat dining reservations and museum admission as separate checks. Šobec also publishes restaurant information; verify its operating season before relying on an on-site meal. Dining information.

Distances and a realistic day plan

Lesce to Bled is broadly 5–10 km and 15–30 minutes depending on the exact destination and traffic. These are planning estimates; popular lake parking can add considerable time.

Keep the first day flexible for arrival and setting up. On the next day, choose one main outdoor outing and leave enough time for meals and the return journey. Check opening hours before adding a museum to the same day.

Free camping and overnight permissions

No authorised free overnight location was verified for this itinerary. Use a confirmed campsite or designated motorhome stop and follow its registration, fee and stay-limit rules. A quiet car park or riverbank does not establish permission to camp.

Season and equipment

Match travel dates to the campsite’s confirmed season. Spring and autumn may suit lower-level walks, while Alpine and underground visits need their own clothing and conditions checks. Carry rain protection, layers, sturdy footwear, water and a first-aid kit. Follow current fire restrictions and the host’s cooking rules.
