Central Slovenia camping: choose your base
Camp Smlednik: Camp Smlednik is at Dragočajna 14a near Smlednik. It suits a stay outside the capital with a separate Ljubljana day. Its 2026 tariff runs through October 15; later operation was not verified, so confirm opening dates before planning an autumn arrival.
Camping prices and reservations
The 2026 tariff lists adults at €14 per night in May–June and September 1–October 15, €16 in the intermediate summer bands and €19 in July 15–August 16. Tourist tax is €1.50 per adult per day, check-in €1, and power €4 at 6A or €5 at 10A per day. Ask the operator to confirm the total for your tent or vehicle and all pitch inclusions. Check the operator’s information.
Before payment, confirm the dimensions of your tent or vehicle, pitch access, the people included and cancellation conditions. Ask separately about drinking-water filling, waste disposal and electricity capacity. Facilities for prepared accommodation should not be assumed available to every touring pitch.
Nature and cultural visits
Allow a local outdoor day around your booked base and a distinct capital-city visit. In Ljubljana, Tivoli offers a park setting alongside cultural attractions. Check the intended public route instead of assuming every rural track is a walking or cycling connection.
Ljubljana’s visitor itinerary connects Tivoli with museums, including the National Museum and City Museum. Choose one museum according to your interests, then verify current location, access, exhibits and opening hours. Official visitor information.
Where to eat
The city tourism itinerary identifies Švicarija and nearby Pivnica Union as lunch stops around Tivoli. Confirm the current menu and hours, and arrange onward transport if your meal includes drinks. These are city stops, not meals included with the campsite. Dining information.
Distances and a realistic day plan
Dragočajna to central Ljubljana is broadly 25–35 km and 35–55 minutes each way as a planning estimate. Budget for traffic and parking, and check public transport from your actual accommodation.
Keep the first day flexible for arrival and setting up. On the next day, choose one main outdoor outing and leave enough time for meals and the return journey. Check opening hours before adding a museum to the same day.
Free camping and overnight permissions
No authorised free overnight location was verified for this itinerary. Use a confirmed campsite or designated motorhome stop and follow its registration, fee and stay-limit rules. A quiet car park or riverbank does not establish permission to camp.
Season and equipment
Match travel dates to the campsite’s confirmed season. Spring and autumn may suit lower-level walks, while Alpine and underground visits need their own clothing and conditions checks. Carry rain protection, layers, sturdy footwear, water and a first-aid kit. Follow current fire restrictions and the host’s cooking rules.
