Chiesanuova camping is best planned as a campsite-based visit. Chiesanuova opens up a different side of San Marino: rural lanes, stream landscapes and foothill views. Make it a deliberate day trip from your camping base, with enough time for a countryside walk rather than a quick drive-through.
Nature and a realistic walking plan
The Gorgascura route starts near Molarini, on Strada del Lavoro. Official figures give about 5.54 km, two to 2½ hours and 177 m of elevation change, with medium difficulty. It follows the San Marino stream and passes through a mix of countryside and gypsum scenery.
Set aside half a day for the walk and longer if you want a slow village visit. Check recent rain and avoid entering water or unstable banks. Download the route before leaving the campsite, because a rural setting is less forgiving of a missed turn late in the day.
Culture and village time
The castello developed around medieval Busignano, in the Apennine foothills. Explore the settlement before heading towards the stream landscape, keeping private homes and agricultural land separate from public visitor space.

Chiesanuova camping: an established paid base
Centro Vacanze San Marino, Strada di San Michele 50, Cailungo, is the established commercial camping option used for this itinerary. It is in Borgo Maggiore, outside Chiesanuova; plan a day-trip transfer rather than expecting a campsite in this castello. Confirm your dates, pitch size and arrival arrangements directly.
2026 tariff: €22 daily solo minimum, before taxes; confirm total.
No free tent-camping or motorhome overnight location has been verified for this itinerary. A public car park, trailhead or picnic area is not evidence of camping permission. Use a booked pitch and ask locally before considering any alternative.
Where to eat
Garden, Strada di San Michele 50, Borgo Maggiore: Romagna cuisine and pizza at the camping base. This is a return-to-base dining option, outside this castello. Check opening times and book when necessary.
Practical camping tips
Spring and autumn are sensible planning choices for walking, subject to the day’s weather. In summer, start early and carry extra water. Pack a waterproof layer, sun protection, sturdy footwear and an offline route. Check trail notices before setting out and leave enough daylight for your return.
Do not judge a transfer by straight-line distance: hills and narrow streets affect access. Ask the campsite about suitable transport and vehicle routes. For costs, national planning and the full directory, visit our San Marino camping guide and castello directory.
