Serravalle Camping Guide: Nature, Campsites & Culture

Serravalle camping is best planned as a campsite-based visit. Serravalle offers an alternative to a trip focused entirely on the capital. Use its green corridors for a walking day, then spend time in the town before returning to a booked pitch in nearby Borgo Maggiore.

Nature and a realistic walking plan

The Ausa–Laiala–Railway route starts by the former Dogana station and links Serravalle with Domagnano. It is about 7.3 km, rated easy, with 220 m of elevation change and a published walking time of 2½ hours. This is a point-to-point itinerary, so arrange the return separately.

Reserve a half day for the route plus the return journey. Start early in warm weather and carry water; an easy grade does not remove the effort of a longer walk. Shorten the day to a park visit if travelling with children who are unused to distance.

Culture and village time

Serravalle was a Malatesta outpost before joining San Marino in 1463. Look for the older town around the modern commercial area and treat the visit as a chance to understand a working community.

Serravalle camping: an established paid base

Centro Vacanze San Marino, Strada di San Michele 50, Cailungo, is the established commercial camping option used for this itinerary. It is in Borgo Maggiore, outside Serravalle; plan a day-trip transfer rather than expecting a campsite in this castello. Confirm your dates, pitch size and arrival arrangements directly.

2026 tariff: €22 daily solo minimum, before taxes; confirm total.

No free tent-camping or motorhome overnight location has been verified for this itinerary. A public car park, trailhead or picnic area is not evidence of camping permission. Use a booked pitch and ask locally before considering any alternative.

Where to eat

Garden, Strada di San Michele 50, Borgo Maggiore: Romagna cuisine and pizza at the camping base. This is a return-to-base dining option, outside this castello. Check opening times and book when necessary.

Practical camping tips

Spring and autumn are sensible planning choices for walking, subject to the day’s weather. In summer, start early and carry extra water. Pack a waterproof layer, sun protection, sturdy footwear and an offline route. Check trail notices before setting out and leave enough daylight for your return.

Do not judge a transfer by straight-line distance: hills and narrow streets affect access. Ask the campsite about suitable transport and vehicle routes. For costs, national planning and the full directory, visit our San Marino camping guide and castello directory.
