Trentino-Alto Adige Camping Guide: Val Venosta and Glorenza

Trentino-Alto Adige camping spans very different alpine valleys. This guide uses Glorenza/Glurns in South Tyrol’s Val Venosta as a base for valley cycling and heritage, with higher mountain outings planned separately.

Build your route with the Italy camping guide and regional directory.

Trentino-Alto Adige camping: nature and outdoor visits

Choose a manageable section of the Val Venosta cycle route. Check gradients, return transport and trail conditions before setting a distance. A valley ride is a different undertaking from a high-alpine hike.

Established camping and published rates

Camping Gloria Vallis in Glorenza publishes 2026 pitch packages. A comfort pitch with two people and electricity is €49.50 for 1 April–13 May, €55 for 14 May–27 June and 20 September–18 October, and €62.90 for 28 June–19 September. Premium and Volkswagen-style pitches have different rates. Confirm tourist tax, extra people, tent or vehicle suitability, sanitary facilities and booking conditions directly. Do not add adult charges again to a two-person package without checking.

Free camping and permission

No specific free overnight campsite was verified for this itinerary. Use the established paid option above or confirm a designated alternative with its manager and local authorities. A beach, picnic spot, trailhead or ordinary car park is not proof of camping permission. Check local signs, protected-area rules and vehicle restrictions before stopping.

Culture and heritage

Explore Glorenza’s walled old town. Leave time for gates, arcades and the townscape, checking access to any museum or tower separately.

Where to eat

The Gloria Vallis restaurant-pizzeria serves meals on the camping property, including takeaway pizza advertised from May 2026. Check the current menu and seasonal service.

Practical Trentino-Alto Adige camping information

Use Glorenza as a valley base and ask reception for the safest walking or cycling connection from the site. Bolzano to Glorenza is approximately 90 km and 1.5–2 hours by car, depending on traffic. Late spring through early autumn suits valley touring; mountain weather requires separate checks. Bring a helmet, lock, repair kit and warm waterproof layers.

A relaxed two-night plan

Arrive with enough daylight to check the pitch and facilities. Keep the first evening close to camp, then spend the full day on valley cycling and walled-town heritage. Leave room for meals, weather changes and local transfers. Before departure, dispose of rubbish and wastewater in the proper facilities and confirm your next site’s arrival arrangements.

Source and tariff check: 16 October 2026. Published prices are reference checks, not live booking quotes or proof of availability. The quoted year and dates matter; do not carry a 2026 price into a later season. Confirm taxes, extras, services and the full amount directly with the operator. Distances and times are approximate planning estimates.
