Piedmont camping offers lakes, hills and alpine valleys. This guide focuses on Entracque and Valle Gesso, where a serviced base can be paired with short walks and visitor centres before attempting more demanding mountain routes.

Piedmont camping: nature and outdoor visits
Use Valle Gesso’s outdoor information to start with a manageable valley walk. Ask about conditions before heading higher into the Maritime Alps. Early snow, thunderstorms and steep ground can change plans quickly.
Established camping and published rates
Camping Valle Gesso, Strada Provinciale per Valdieri 3, Entracque, publishes 2026 rates. In its lowest band, 1 January–22 May and 7 September–31 December, a standard tent/caravan/camper rate is €7.50 plus €6.20 per person: €19.90 for two before power and any local tax. Electricity is €3.50 for 3A or €5 for 6A. A tent or caravan rate includes one parking place. In peak summer, the pitch row changes to packages including two people; do not add person charges twice. Confirm actual opening, seasonal services and your full quotation.
Free camping and permission
No specific free overnight campsite was verified for this itinerary. Use the established paid option above or confirm a designated alternative with its manager and local authorities. A beach, picnic spot, trailhead or ordinary car park is not proof of camping permission. Check local signs, protected-area rules and vehicle restrictions before stopping.
Culture and heritage
The Uomini e Lupi visitor centres explore the relationship between people and wolves. Check which centre you are visiting, its location and any timed admission before setting off.
Where to eat
Locanda del Sorriso at Trinità di Entracque has a restaurant in a former village school. Reserve and check the day’s menu; it is a separate mountain-village meal stop.
Practical Piedmont camping information
The campsite lies near Entracque; ask reception for the signed walking route to town and precise visitor-centre transfers. Cuneo to Entracque is roughly 25–30 km and 35–45 minutes by car. June–September is a starting window for valley touring, with higher trails requiring their own weather and snow assessment. Pack waterproof layers, sturdy footwear and warm bedding.
A relaxed two-night plan
Arrive with enough daylight to check the pitch and facilities. Keep the first evening close to camp, then spend the full day on valley walks and mountain heritage. Leave room for meals, weather changes and local transfers. Before departure, dispose of rubbish and wastewater in the proper facilities and confirm your next site’s arrival arrangements.
Source and tariff check: 16 October 2026. Published prices are reference checks, not live booking quotes or proof of availability. The quoted year and dates matter; do not carry a 2026 price into a later season. Confirm taxes, extras, services and the full amount directly with the operator. Distances and times are approximate planning estimates.
