Suvalkija camping focuses on quiet countryside, lakes and the traditions of southwestern Lithuania. Also known as Sūduva, the region rewards a slower stay around Vištytis instead of a quick border-to-border drive.

Suvalkija camping: nature and outdoor visits
Start at the Vištytis Regional Park visitor centre for a route suited to the day’s conditions. The park protects a hilly landscape around Lake Vištytis. Choose a marked walk, carry water and stay on the Lithuanian side of the lake and permitted routes; check current border-area requirements before venturing farther.
Established camping and published rates
Pušelė, in Žirgėnų village near Vištytis, advertises tent and motorhome stays. Its undated overnight tariff lists €6 per adult, €8 for a one-to-four-person tent and €5 for a car. Two adults, one small tent and one car total €25 before extras. A motorhome place is €15 and electricity €3 extra, with person fees charged separately: two adults with a motorhome and power total €30. A shower is listed separately at €3 for 30 minutes. Confirm taxes, season and all charges with the operator before arrival. Quiet rules prohibit amplified sound equipment.
Free camping and permission
No specific free overnight site was verified for this itinerary. Choose the established option above, or confirm a designated alternative with its manager. A picnic area, viewpoint or car park does not establish overnight permission. The national guide links official camping rules and maps; check the signs and restrictions at your exact destination.
Culture and local heritage
The campsite’s Metalo Fantazija / Metal Fantasy exhibition offers an unusual art stop alongside the natural setting. Its price page says museum access is included for camping guests. Check opening arrangements rather than assuming the exhibition can be entered at any hour.
Where to eat
Pušelė’s on-site café/bar is listed by the Lithuanian camping association, making it a convenient meal option at Žirgėnų. Confirm seasonal service and the current menu directly; no particular daily dish or all-year dining schedule has been verified.
Practical Suvalkija camping information
Use Vištytis as the local orientation point and obtain the exact Pušelė approach from the operator. For broad planning, Vilkaviškis to the Vištytis area is approximately 35 km and 40–50 minutes by car. Allow more time for the final campsite approach. May to September is a practical tent window, subject to opening confirmation. Bring food reserves, cash, waterproof clothing, insect protection and a warm sleeping layer. Ask about boat access and permits before arranging fishing or paddling.
A relaxed two-night stay
Arrive early enough to check your pitch and facilities in daylight. Keep the first evening close to camp, then devote the full day to lake scenery and unusual local art. Save a museum or café visit for wet weather and leave time for meals and local transfers. Before moving on, refill water where permitted, dispose of waste correctly and check the next site’s arrival arrangements.
Source and tariff check: 16 October 2026. These are published source checks rather than live booking quotes. An undated price has no confirmed validity year. Confirm the full amount, operating dates, access and facilities directly with the operator before paying. Distances and driving times are approximate planning estimates.
