This Monaco camping guide explains how to combine a Riviera campsite with visits to five distinctive parts of the principality. Stay at an established site in neighboring France or Italy, then explore Monaco’s gardens, seaside walks, restaurants and cultural venues by train, bus and on foot.
Choose your Monaco district guide
Use the directory below to plan a day around your interests. Each guide covers outdoor sights, nearby camping options, food, culture and practical access. These are five selected visitor areas, not an exhaustive list of Monaco’s administrative districts.
Monaco-Ville
Historic Rock, cliffside gardens and the Oceanographic Museum.
La Condamine
Port Hercule, neighborhood dining and the 2026 market works.
Where can you camp near Monaco?
No authorized campsite within these five Monaco districts, or free overnight camping site nearby, was verified for this series. Public beaches, gardens and parking spaces do not establish overnight camping permission. Choose an established campsite, book an accepted pitch and confirm the rules for your tent, car, caravan or motorhome.
Do not base an itinerary on an unverified “free camping” map pin. Ask the relevant land manager or local authority for explicit authorization before considering any alternative overnight site. No free-site stay limit or permit is supplied here because no such location was verified.
Two established camping bases
Le Parc Saint Michel — Menton, France
This commercial campsite on Route des Ciappes de Castellar is a nearby option for tents and suitable vehicles. The local tourism listing specifies motorhomes under seven meters and small caravans; the operator warns that caravan access is difficult. Confirm your exact dimensions and approach route before booking.
For orientation, Menton is approximately 15 km from central Monaco by road; the campsite’s hill location adds a local transfer. Allow roughly 40–80 minutes to a Monaco district by transfer, train and final walk or bus. Distances and door-to-door times are approximate planning allowances, not measured routes or timetables.
Por La Mar — Latte di Ventimiglia, Italy
This registered commercial campsite at Corso Nizza 107 offers tent and vehicle accommodation. Its services page lists showers, laundry, water facilities and a paid shuttle. Confirm any shuttle destination, operating time and fare directly; a station transfer does not automatically include the train journey.
Latte is roughly 25 km by road from central Monaco, depending on the route. For public transport, budget a generous 60–100 minutes door to door for a transfer, rail connection and final district access. These are estimates and can be exceeded when connections do not align.
Verified 2026 camping tariff references
Prices below were checked against operator publications on October 16, 2026. They are reference rates with stated conditions, subject to availability and confirmation for your exact booking.
| Campsite | Published reference | Important conditions |
|---|---|---|
| Le Parc Saint Michel | One person with tent, no vehicle: €20; with tent and car: €36.50; van: €38.50; motorhome: €40.50. | Published for Feb 13–Mar 3 and May 1–Sep 20, 2026; three-night minimum. Extra adult €8.50, electricity €8, local tax €0.80 per person/day. Request an October quote. |
| Por La Mar | October 1–November 1, 2026: adult €9; small pitch €8; camper component €13. | Components are not complete packages. Tourist tax €2 per person aged 14+ for the first seven nights; confirm equipment charges and extras. |
Ask for one final written total covering all travelers, equipment, vehicles, power, tax and any required minimum stay. A cheap-looking component should never be treated as the whole booking cost. Published seasonal rates do not guarantee an available pitch.
Nature and outdoor visits
Choose Monaco-Ville for the Saint-Martin gardens and cliffside outlooks, Fontvieille for the rose garden and harbor, Monte-Carlo for landscaped garden paths, and Larvotto for the promenade and beach. La Condamine provides a harbor-centered walk with connections to the Rock. Monaco’s small footprint makes short outings possible, but stairs and elevation changes can make distances deceptive.
These are urban nature visits. For swimming, obey current beach notices. For walks, respect planted areas, restricted quays and event barriers. Carry out litter and leave the camping equipment at your overnight base.
Restaurants and culture
Suggested food stops include U Cavagnetu for Monégasque cooking in Monaco-Ville, Amici Miei for Italian dining at Fontvieille harbor, Brasserie de Monaco at Port Hercule and Miami Plage at Larvotto. Monte-Carlo’s Café de Paris is a brasserie option on Casino Square. Consult current menus, opening information and reservation conditions.
For cultural time, choose the Oceanographic Museum, palace surroundings and cathedral, an opera performance, or an exhibition at the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco. Check admission and dates separately. La Condamine’s covered market is under renovation in 2026; the municipality gives February 2027 as the expected completion.
A simple three-day itinerary
- Day one: Monaco-Ville gardens and historic streets, followed by one museum visit.
- Day two: Fontvieille gardens and harbor, then La Condamine for a waterfront meal.
- Day three: Monte-Carlo gardens and architecture, followed by Larvotto’s promenade, garden or beach as conditions allow.
Return to the same campsite each evening. You can shorten this plan by choosing one district per day or skip an indoor visit to leave more time outside.
Season, transport and packing
Spring and early autumn are sensible walking seasons. Summer brings stronger sun and demand; winter plans need a rain alternative and confirmed campsite opening. Check major-event dates before reserving, because road closures and crowds can affect access.
Use current rail timetables and Monaco bus information, checking the last return to your overnight base. Bring comfortable shoes, water, sun protection, a light waterproof and a charged phone. Add beach equipment for Larvotto and a suitable campsite electrical adapter if your booking includes power. Confirm an accessible route when steps or steep gradients are a concern.
