Navarra Camping Guide: Irati, Urbasa & Bardenas Routes

Navarra camping guide. Navarra is a single-province community with a strong north-to-south contrast. Choose Aurizberri/Espinal for Pyrenean forest outings, a separate Urbasa base for beechwoods and Urederra, or Villafranca for the Bardenas area. Do not treat these as short transfers from one campsite.

Plan your wider route with our Spain camping guide. This guide covers the region by province. Camping permissions, seasonal access and booking conditions differ by destination.

Natural places and towns: Irati offers woodland and reservoir scenery; Roncesvalles and Sorogain suit northern routes. Urbasa–Andía and the Urederra source offer another forest-and-water itinerary. Bardenas Reales is a dry badlands destination requiring shade, water and current route checks.

Camping inside the destination: The official Urbasa park guidance says camping and motorhome overnight stays are allowed only at Camping Urbasa. Urederra visits have a separate booking requirement. Use formal campsites for other routes and confirm the exact park permissions.

Nearby free camping: No unrestricted free tent campsite was verified. The official visitor reservation platform lists managed reception and vehicle overnight areas; check the selected area’s fee, vehicle eligibility and stay limit. A motorhome parking allocation does not authorize tents or overnight camping anywhere in Bardenas.

Paid camping: Camping Urrobi lists pitch categories with one vehicle, one camping unit and 6A electricity, with occupants and extras to be checked in its calculator. Its numerical rate fields could not be retrieved, so request a complete current quote. The operator notes the river swimming area is currently out of service; do not rely on it. Camping Bardenas in Villafranca provides a separate southern camping and accommodation option; obtain tent/car or motorhome prices and opening dates.

Restaurants: Restaurante Baratze at the Urrobi area offers seasonal Basque-Navarrese cooking. Villafranca’s municipal campsite restaurant listing provides the southern option’s contact details; confirm current menu and hours.

Museums and cultural stops: Visit Roncesvalles’ collegiate heritage during the northern stay. Pamplona’s Museum of Navarra and historic centre or Tudela’s cathedral and museums are separate city outings.

Practical information: Late spring to early autumn suits northern camping, subject to snow and opening dates. Spring and autumn are more comfortable for Bardenas walks. Estimate roughly 6–8 km, 10 minutes from Urrobi to Roncesvalles. Choose the actual Irati trailhead before estimating the longer transfer. Bring waterproof layers and a warm pad in the north; carry extra water, shade and navigation for the south.

Reservations, prices and equipment

Information checked on October 13, 2026. Published price examples below describe the stated package, not a guaranteed nightly quote. Where a current fixed tariff could not be verified, request a dated quote for your party, tent or vehicle, electricity and pets. Confirm opening dates, vehicle length, pitch access and cancellation terms directly before travel.

Carry a weatherproof tent, suitable sleeping bag and insulated pad, headlamp, first-aid kit, offline map, drinking water and layers. Match footwear and sun protection to your route. Mountain and coastal weather can differ sharply on the same trip.
