Catalonia Camping Guide: Barcelona, Girona, Lleida & Tarragona

Catalonia camping guide. Choose Mediterranean beaches, forest landscapes, volcanic-country walks, mountain lakes or delta birdwatching. The four provinces require different camping bases. Aigüestortes visits and refuge stays have separate rules from the serviced campsites in this guide.

Plan your wider route with our Spain camping guide. This guide covers the region by province. Camping permissions, seasonal access and booking conditions differ by destination.

Barcelona

Natural places and towns: Vilanova i la Geltrú offers coastal outings near the Garraf landscape. Montseny’s forests and Santa Fe routes are a separate provincial mountain itinerary.

Camping inside the destination: Vilanova Park is a designated campsite inland from the beach, outside Montseny. A beach-day or nature-park visit does not authorize camping in the destination.

Nearby free camping: No unrestricted, free public tent campsite was verified for this itinerary. A picnic area or beach car park is not permission to camp. Ask the municipality and protected-area office about authorized sites, permits and maximum stay before choosing a free overnight stop.

Paid camping: Vilanova Park offers touring accommodation, pools and restaurant facilities. Ask for a date-specific tent/car or motorhome pitch total, tourist tax and utilities; no full fixed 2026 rate was verified.

Restaurants: Mas Roquer at Vilanova Park serves Catalan, Mediterranean and international food within the campsite.

Museums and cultural stops: Visit Vilanova’s railway museum and town centre. Barcelona’s museums and Gaudí monuments are a separate city excursion.

Practical information: Spring and autumn suit walks; summer suits beach days with advance bookings. Municipal tourism places the campsite 4 km from town; allow about 10–15 minutes. Bring sun protection and a rain layer for forest outings.

Girona

Natural places and towns: Banyoles is a lake-walking base; Albanyà and the Alta Garrotxa provide forest and river landscapes. The Garrotxa volcanic area and Costa Brava beaches are separate outings or additional bases.

Camping inside the destination: El Llac is a designated campsite by Banyoles. TAIGA Bassegoda Park is a separate forest-area base; neither booking authorizes tents on lake shores or trails.

Nearby free camping: No unrestricted, free public tent campsite was verified for this itinerary. A picnic area or beach car park is not permission to camp. Ask the municipality and protected-area office about authorized sites, permits and maximum stay before choosing a free overnight stop.

Paid camping: Camping El Llac publishes 2026 components including VAT. A standard pitch, two adults, tent and car total €31.65 low season or €37.70 high season, including 6A electricity, before the published tourist tax. Two adults plus motorhome and standard pitch total €28.10/€33. High season includes June 1–September 15 and specified holidays. TAIGA Bassegoda Park provides another base; obtain a current quote.

Restaurants: Agumas at Bassegoda Park serves seasonal meals in Albanyà. It suits that camping base rather than being described as an on-site Banyoles restaurant.

Museums and cultural stops: Visit Banyoles’ museums, Besalú’s old town or Girona’s art and history museums on separate outings.

Practical information: Spring and autumn suit lake and forest walking. El Llac’s operator gives Banyoles centre as 15 minutes on foot. Albanyà is a separate drive. Bring waterproof footwear, layers and sun protection; swim only in authorized areas.

Lleida

Natural places and towns: Solsona and the Solsonès offer woodland and rural routes. Aigüestortes and Estany de Sant Maurici, accessed through Espot or Boí, require a separate Pyrenean base for mountain lakes and higher hiking.

Camping inside the destination: The national park’s current guidance prohibits camping, bivouac and overnight stays outside refuges throughout the park and its peripheral protection zone. Use booked refuges or designated campsites outside it.

Nearby free camping: No unrestricted, free public tent campsite was verified for this itinerary. A picnic area or beach car park is not permission to camp. Ask the municipality and protected-area office about authorized sites, permits and maximum stay before choosing a free overnight stop.

Paid camping: Camping El Solsonès offers a serviced Solsona base with pool and shop. Confirm touring-pitch acceptance and a dated quote; a retrieved 2025 rate card is not presented as 2026 pricing.

Restaurants: Restaurante El Solsonès serves traditional and contemporary cooking using local products at the campsite.

Museums and cultural stops: Visit Solsona’s historic centre and museum; the Romanesque churches of the Boí valley complement a separate Pyrenean stay.

Practical information: Spring and autumn suit Solsona; snow-free summer conditions are needed for many high routes. The campsite address is on the Sant Llorenç road at km 2; estimate 2–3 km, 5–10 minutes to town. Do not plan Aigüestortes as a short campsite transfer. Carry warmer mountain layers and navigation.

Tarragona

Natural places and towns: The Ebro Delta offers wetlands, beaches and birdwatching around Amposta and Deltebre. Els Ports and the Prades mountains are separate forest-and-hiking itineraries.

Camping inside the destination: Camping Eucaliptus provides a formal delta coastal base. Birdwatching hides, protected marshes and dunes are not overnight camping locations.

Nearby free camping: No unrestricted, free public tent campsite was verified for this itinerary. A picnic area or beach car park is not permission to camp. Ask the municipality and protected-area office about authorized sites, permits and maximum stay before choosing a free overnight stop.

Paid camping: Camping Eucaliptus advertises flat pitches for camping and touring units. Ask for current standard-pitch pricing, included occupancy and electricity, tourist tax and opening dates; no complete fixed 2026 tariff was verified.

Restaurants: La Mar del Delta at the campsite specializes in local rice dishes and seafood.

Museums and cultural stops: Visit delta interpretation facilities or Amposta’s museums; Tarragona’s Roman heritage merits a separate city outing.

Practical information: Spring and autumn suit walking and birds, subject to seasonal conditions. Beach access is a local outing from Eucaliptus; estimate roughly 15–20 km and 20–30 minutes to Amposta depending on the chosen destination. Carry binoculars, mosquito protection, water and wind-resistant shelter.

Reservations, prices and equipment

Information checked on October 13, 2026. Published price examples below describe the stated package, not a guaranteed nightly quote. Where a current fixed tariff could not be verified, request a dated quote for your party, tent or vehicle, electricity and pets. Confirm opening dates, vehicle length, pitch access and cancellation terms directly before travel.

Carry a weatherproof tent, suitable sleeping bag and insulated pad, headlamp, first-aid kit, offline map, drinking water and layers. Match footwear and sun protection to your route. Mountain and coastal weather can differ sharply on the same trip.
